Baxter Thetford have a fantastic opportunity for Projects & Improvements Engineer (Automation Bias) to join their Project Engineering Team. Acting as a technical expert within the team, you will be responsible for the management of change related to software as part of new implementation projects within the plant. Usual working hours will be Monday to Friday 37,5 hrs per week however flexibility in working hours to suit business needs is required. This will not be routine but may include early mornings, evenings and weekends periodically to support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage system automation and control projects to the highest standard of capital management, schedule compliance and system handover criteria.

  • Provide technical expertise on key engineering projects and process improvement projects. Including feasibility, design and delivery of solutions.

  • Develop technical specifications focused on automation, instrumentation, and process control.

  • Management of change and software best practices for site automation equipment.

  • Manage automation data; acquisition, management, storage, and presentation from machine to enterprise level.

  • Support the handover process into production and manage punch list items. 

  • Ability to travel within Europe is essential.

  • Identify areas for improvement across the site.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in electrical, electronic or control systems engineering or equivalent

  • High degree of competency in PLC operation and philosophy, hardware, and software.

  • Experience with electrical schematics, electronic circuitry, control loops, electrical panel wiring, device configuration and integration.

  • Experience in communications protocols such as TCP/IP, Serial, Fibre, and integration into automation systems.

  • Experience within manufacturing automation, robotics, and servo motion control

  • Experience of working in a highly validated environment with working experience and or qualifications in Computer System Validation (CSV) and Computer Systems regulatory compliance.

  • Experience of automation data acquisition, management, storage, and presentation from machine to enterprise level.
