Your role at Baxter

Coordinates and oversees the daily activities and schedules of the calibration department. Responsible for performing maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instruments for laboratory and manufacturing equipment. Prepares technical reports, performs trending on equipment and processes and determines acceptability of product and processes based on data analysis and specifications.

What you'll be doing

This position is responsible for following procedures to ensure that electrical, electronic, mechanical, and analytical measuring equipment meets industry standards.

  • Leads staff to ensure completion of all routine and non-routine work and projects in compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reviews and tracks completion of assigned tasks.
  • Perform all duties of a Sr. Tech. Calibration.
  • Develops and implements technically defensible standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of test equipment and processes.
  • Investigate system, test, or process failures to determine root cause and impact on product and/or processes. Determine and implement appropriate actions to address the failure and its impact on affected products and/or processes.
  • Owns all calibration procedures and processes.
  • Assigns employee training and trains new employees.
  • Develop and perform trending or data analysis to assure ongoing conformity of systems, processes, and products to specifications, standards, and/or government regulations.
  • Leads calibration projects (new system launches, digitization, optimization, organization, reporting, etc.)
  • Serve as a technical resource on metrology issues.
  • Creates and maintains an equipment file for each piece test/manufacturing equipment requiring calibration.
  • Sets up standard and special-purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
  • Apply complex formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
  • Maintain traceability of Metrology standards to national or international standards.

What you'll bring

  • High School diploma or GED with equivalent experience in the medical device industry that includes 6+ years of calibration experience and 2+ years of leadership experience and/or associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent with 4+ years’ experience in a calibration-related field with proven problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in an FDA-regulated environment preferred

  • Strong knowledge of metrology systems, technology, and defensible Calibration routines

  • Excellent understanding of metrology with an ability to create and understand complex processes and procedures

  • Strong understanding of instrument capabilities and limitations and factors affecting their use

  • Must be able to demonstrate considerable judgment and initiative in problem resolution

  • Must be able to work unsupervised

  • Ability to Lead employees

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Knowledge of:
    • anti-static precautions for working with static-sensitive electronic components
    • working safely with electricity
    • “Good Manufacturing Practices”
    • Medical Device Regulations
    • Ability to learn the functions of infusion pumps and their various configurations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Able to sit and stand throughout the day.
  • Physical Requirements: 
  • Dynamic Lifting capability: Must have the ability to lift and carry 15 pounds from floor to shoulder and lift 2 pounds from shoulder to overhead.  Must also have the capability to push and pull a maximum force of 6 pounds.

This is a manufacturing environment regulated by the FDA and many other work rules to prevent damage to the product we manufacture.  Some of those work rules include but are not limited to: 

  •  Wearing a static protective smock at all times while in the manufacturing/production area.
  •  Wearing a ground wrist strap and plugging that wrist strap into the working table. 
  •  Working in close proximity to other employees.
  •  Working in an environment that is temperature and humidity controlled. 
  • Non-routine exposure to de-greasers, oils, electronic equipment cleaners

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $60,000.00 - $82,500.00 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
