Your role at Baxter

The Sr. Manager, Regional Occupational Health & Wellness Nurse is a critical leadership role within Baxter’s Global Occupational Health Team, responsible for advancing employee well-being, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the Americas, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean.

What you'll be doing

  • Shape enterprise-wide wellness strategy through leadership of Baxter’s BeWell platform, influencing health outcomes for employees globally.
  • Lead global initiatives with cross-regional impact, including physician oversight and vendor
  • Collaborate with regional Occupational Health Leaders to ensure consistent implementation and continuous improvement across all sites.
  • Serve as Program Manager for Baxter’s BeWell Wellness platform and intranet site, driving engagement and health outcomes.
  • Update all OH policy and procedures.
  • Lead OH projects to completion (ie, global physician oversight, Drug and Alcohol policy, Vendor harmonization, implementation of Wellness tool globally.
  • Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with regional occupational health regulations and corporate standards.
  • Lead audits, inspections, and risk assessments; maintain documentation to support legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as liaison with governmental and regulatory bodies on health-related matters.]
  • Participate in weekly recordable review meetings.
  • Design initiatives that reduce absenteeism, improve productivity, and support Baxter’s human resource strategy.
  • Design and implement evidence-based health initiatives (e.g., ergonomics, fatigue management, cardiovascular health).
  • Lead cross-functional health projects with HR, EHS, Operations, and external providers.
  • Develop and track metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee clinical programs across diverse geographies and regulatory environments, ensuring consistent care standards and operational continuity.
  • Provide clinical guidance for occupational health cases, including fitness-for-duty evaluations, return-to-work plans, and accommodations.
  • Manage post-offer exams (POET), early symptom intervention (ESI), and regional health surveillance programs.
  • Coordinate pop-up clinics, flu vaccination campaigns, and mobile medical events.
  • Support regional sites without onsite OH support with claims management, medical surveillance, injury determination, and vendor support.
  • Lead regional deployment of digital OH platforms (e.g., Medcare) ensuring GDPR and regional compliance.
  • Analyze health data trends, conduct root cause analyses, and implement preventive strategies.
  • Lead rollout of Benchmark’s Ergo Evaluator tool.
  • Drive digital transformation in occupational health through deployment of AI-enabled tools and analytics platforms, enhancing decision-making and predictive health modeling.
  • Provide direct leadership and performance management for a team of 19 occupational health professionals across the Americas, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean, including one team leader with four direct reports.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative culture through coaching, development planning, and succession management.
  • Ensure alignment of individual and team goals with Baxter’s strategic occupational health objectives.
  • Support workforce planning, talent acquisition, and onboarding for regional OH roles.
  • Mentor occupational health professionals regionally; oversee training, credentialing, and continuing education.
  • Facilitate regional training and continuous improvement across EHS&S professionals.
  • Serve as Global Program Coordinator for Baxter’s Travel SOS program, supporting international traveler health readiness.

What you'll bring

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required
  • Minimum 8 years of occupational health nursing or clinical OH leadership experience.
  • COHN/COHN-S or equivalent international OH certification preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with compact license or equivalent international clinical license (active status).
  • Experience with digital OH platforms and case management systems.
  • Cross-cultural communication and regional stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Strong knowledge of regional OH regulations and surveillance practices.
  • Proven leadership in multi-site or regional program management.
  • Proficiency in digital tools (e.g., Benchmark ESG, AI ergonomic tools, MS Teams, SharePoint, Monday.com).
  • Demonstrated success in leading regional or global health programs with measurable business impact.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000 - $176,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
