The Operations Manager at BDCE, plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing our Warehouse’s operations to ensure the efficient and effective distribution of our life-saving products. The role leads a dedicated team, manages daily operations, and implements standard methodologies to improve efficiency, safety, and quality within BDCE’s environment. This position requires strong collaboration with various departments, including Quality, Human Resources, Transportation, Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH), OPEX &Training, while also supporting the overall strategic objectives of the organization. Additionally, the function engages in trade unionized management to further positive labor relations.

What you'll do:

Operational Leadership and management: Supervise and coordinate all warehouse activities, including receiving, shipping, inventory management, and order fulfillment. Ensure that operations align with Baxter’s mission to save and sustain lives.

Support to Strategy: Collaborate with senior management to align warehouse operations with the company’s strategic goals. Contribute to the development and execution of operational strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.

Lean Management: Implement lean management principles BOS to streamline warehouse processes, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency. Develop a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to identify and eliminate inefficiencies.

Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance.

Performance Management: Implement performance management systems to set clear expectations, monitor progress, and evaluate employee performance against established goals. Use performance data to identify training needs and areas for improvement.

Motivation and Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to motivate warehouse staff, recognizing and rewarding high performance. Foster an inclusive and positive work environment that encourages employee engagement and retention.

Trade Unionized Management: Engage with trade unions to maintain positive labor relations. Collaborate with HR & union representatives to address employee concerns, negotiate agreements, and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Facilitate open communication between management and union members to promote a harmonious workplace.

Process Optimization: Analyze current warehouse processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase service levels. Employ data-driven decision-making to improve operational excellence.

Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. Collaborate with the ESH team to promote a safe working environment by conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.

Quality Assurance: Work closely with the Quality department to ensure that all warehouse operations meet regulatory and company quality standards. Implement quality control measures and address any non-conformance issues promptly.

Inventory Management: Oversee inventory accuracy and control processes. Apply standard methodologies for inventory management to decrease discrepancies and improve stock level optimization.

Collaboration with HR: Partner with the HR department to identify staffing needs, develop job descriptions, and participate in the recruitment and onboarding of warehouse personnel. Collaborate on employee engagement initiatives and performance management processes.

Transportation Coordination: Liaise with the Transportation team to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products. Optimize shipping processes and address any logistical challenges that may arise.

Training and Development: Collaborate with the Training department to identify training needs for warehouse staff. Ensure that all employees receive appropriate training on safety protocols, operational procedures, and quality standards.

Consequence Management: Establish and enforce clear consequences for performance issues and non-compliance with safety, operational standards and organization rules. Ensure that all team members understand the importance of accountability and the impact of their actions on overall warehouse performance.

Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on warehouse performance metrics, including key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, accuracy, and safety. Use insights to advise strategic decisions.

Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the warehouse budget, ensuring that operations remain within financial targets while meeting operational goals.

What you'll bring :

Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in warehouse operations or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a successful managerial role.

Strong leadership and team management abilities, with decision making posture.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse/distribution center’s operations.

Experience in managing unionized workforces and understanding of labor relations.
