We are currently looking for an energetic, hard-working Reliability Engineer to work full-time (Monday to Friday 8:00h-16:00) at our Alliston facility. The following are dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, jumpsuit, hood, hairnet, beard cover, gloves, isolation mask and boots (additional PPE required when cleaning)

What You'll Be Doing 

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, maintainability, and efficiency of Baxter Healthcare's equipment and systems. This role involves identifying and addressing potential issues, implementing preventative maintenance strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve overall system performance.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain reliability methodologies and procedures to proactively identify and mitigate equipment risks that impact Baxter's key operational pillars: Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Utilize a comprehensive set of reliability improvement tools, including Root Cause Analysis, Reliability modeling, FMEA's, Failure reporting, Statistical Process control monitoring, etc., to proactively identify and address equipment issues. Leverage CMMS (Maximo) historical data, key performance indicators (KPIs), and world-class practices to drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability and performance.
  • Proactively identify and address equipment with a history of frequent failures, known as "Bad Actors," by implementing reliability principles focused on failure elimination. Establish and supervise key performance indicators (MTBF, MTTR, MTTF, etc.) to assess and track equipment performance, enabling continuous improvement in reliability.
  • Provide support for master data activities related to asset criticality, spare parts creation and modification, stock quantity management, PM work order assessments, and documentation control to ensure accurate and up-to-date data for effective equipment maintenance and reliability improvement
  • Work with Engineering Department to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new equipment & modifications performed to the equipment. Provide input on new equipment selection, define spare part requirements, communicate PM/PDM expectations, participate in Commissioning process of new installations, define Reliability related training requirements, and support development of Engineering/Maintenance Standards.
  • Implement predictive maintenance systems for effective strategies on both new and existing equipment. Develop, implement, and manage a Predictive Maintenance program that incorporates cost-effective predictive and other nondestructive technologies to proactively identify and address equipment issues, thereby improving equipment reliability and performance.
  •  Provide support to the Maintenance Planner in planning for Preventive Maintenance Planned Shutdowns by proactively reviewing PM task lists, associated parts, and making necessary corrections to ensure smooth execution during the shutdown, as required.
  • Educate and train the department on the importance of maintaining accurate equipment histories for trending purposes and reliability improvement.
  • In-depth understanding of reliability engineering principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance, repair, and overhaul processes.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as Maximo.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Organizational and detail-oriented as well as Data-driven decision-making skills.

What You'll Bring 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of previous experience in a manufacturing maintenance and engineering reliability engineering role, preferably within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) - Preferred
  • Incumbent is responsible to Support our goal to achieve a “Zero Harm Environment” and environmental compliance by:
  • Follow all duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
  • Follow Baxter EHS&S Policy and all applicable EHS&S procedures and requirements.
  • Adopt Start When Certain in all tasks performed.
  • Report promptly any hazards, unsafe conditions, and environmental concerns/spills.
  • Report promptly all incidents /near-misses/pain and discomfort.
  • Wear appropriate PPE.
  • Participate in maintaining proper housekeeping.
  • Participate in 3Rs’ program-Reduce-Reuse-Recycle.
