Your role at Baxter

The Director, Climate Transition & Clean Energy Strategy serves as Baxter's enterprise subject matter expert for clean energy strategy, energy accounting, and energy-related climate disclosures. As clean energy and energy decarbonization are expected to deliver a substantial portion of Baxter's operational emissions reductions and are critical to achieving the company's Net Zero ambitions, this role provides strategic leadership for the design and execution of enterprise energy transition pathways.

The position provides technical leadership on energy accounting methodologies consistent with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and other applicable regulatory and disclosure frameworks, ensuring accurate, auditable, and decision-useful energy and emissions reporting across the enterprise.

What you'll be doing

1. Enterprise Clean Energy Strategy & Transition Planning

Lead the development and execution of Baxter's enterprise clean energy strategy across renewable electricity, low-carbon thermal energy, electrification, and emerging energy technologies. This role translates Baxter's climate commitments and renewable energy goals into practical regional implementation plans and serves as a key strategic contributor to the enterprise Climate Transition Plan, ensuring energy decarbonization pathways support long-term business resilience, growth, and Net Zero ambitions.

2. Energy Accounting, Climate Data & Regulatory Reporting

Serve as Baxter's enterprise subject matter expert for energy accounting and energy-related greenhouse gas methodologies, ensuring alignment with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and other applicable climate disclosure and regulatory reporting frameworks. The role provides technical oversight for energy and emissions data used in sustainability reporting, external disclosures, and assurance processes, ensuring reporting is accurate, auditable, and decision-useful for internal and external stakeholders.

3. Energy Markets, Commercial Strategy & Risk Management

Provide strategic leadership on energy procurement, market intelligence, and commercial decision-making to optimize Baxter's global electricity and thermal energy portfolio. Through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and evaluation of renewable energy sourcing solutions, the role identifies opportunities to reduce cost, manage risk, enhance resiliency, and accelerate progress toward the company's clean energy and climate objectives.

4. Enterprise Partnership, Governance & Execution

Partner across Sustainability, Manufacturing, Facilities, EHS, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and other business functions to integrate clean energy considerations into capital planning, operational strategies, and climate-related decision-making. The role provides enterprise governance, strategic guidance, and external representation on energy matters, helping ensure successful implementation of Baxter's clean energy strategy while maintaining alignment with business priorities and stakeholder expectations.

What you'll bring

  • 7–10+ years of experience in energy strategy, energy markets, renewable/clean energy, utilities, or capital‑intensive operations.

  • Demonstrated strength in:

    • Financial modeling and investment analysis

    • Contract negotiation and commercial structures

    • Energy markets and price risk management

  • Experience spanning both electricity and thermal energy strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and influence decisions without direct ownership of execution.
