As a Extrusion Operator, you are happiest when you are moving, and we will not disappoint!

We are currently looking for an energetic, hard-working Extrusion Operator to work on our Day shift (Monday to Thursday 6:00 - 16:00) at our Alliston facility. The following are dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, jumpsuit, hood, hairnet, beard cover, gloves, isolation mask and boots (additional PPE required when cleaning) 

  • Constant or intermittent exposure to elevated levels of noise 

  • Involves working around equipment, machinery, and belts 

What You'll Be Doing 

In this role, you will play a critical role by running the Extrusion line, ensure proper materials are used, make adjustments as necessary to produce a quality product.  Perform all necessary Q.A. and documentation for Extrusion dept. and release of product.

Duties performed on a rotational basis 

  • Perform line clearance as needed and perform die changes.

  • Perform quality checks and documentation for Extrusion department and release of product.

  • Make up boxes with liners, pack tubing in boxes, put fill boxes on skids, identify & strap skids.

  • Use of GME to enter shop floor & order raw materials, as necessary.

  • Set-up and make adjustments on machine as necessary to produce a quality product.

  • Support the facility LEAN enterprise journey through the use of tools including but not limited to 6S.

Duties performed on a continual or intermittent basis  

  • Learn, understand and apply thorough quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) 

  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur 

  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles

What You'll Bring 

  • Successful completion of High School diploma or GED required (Proof will be requested)

  • Fast-paced environment, high pressure

  • Experience doing repetitive tasks

  • Manufacturing/Quality experience in a GMP environment

  • Experience in food or manufacturing industry

  • Demonstrated good attendance in present position.

  • Demonstrated good performance & good quality in present position.

  • Demonstrated good attitude utilizing Baxters Shared Committments

  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.

  • Experience in Trouble shooting mechanical problems.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.

  • Experience in working effectively both independently, and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated support & participation in the 6S initiative.

  • Proven ability to be proactive and self-motivated on the job.

  • Demonstrated ability to document data correctly per CA GPP 80.

  • Must have the ability to comprehend Baxter Specifications / SOP’s and determine apropriate corrective actions.

  • Equipment used: Extruder, 4  wheel  trolleys,  walkie  & manual jacks, Q.A. tools and gauges, cutter, coiler, and computer

Pay Transparency Language:
We understand that compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a pay rate of $29.70 an hour. You may also be entitled to a shift premium for all shift premium eligible hours which will be included in your bi-weekly pay. Shift premium pay is subject to change and is at the sole discretion of the Company.
